• SpamAssassin
  SpamAssassin is a mature, widely used mail filter used to identify Spam. SpamAssassin uses a number of mechanisms including header and text analysis, Bayesian filtering, DNS blacklists, and collaborative filtering databases. SpamAssassin runs on our server, and filters the spam before it reaches your mailbox.

• Bayesian Filtering
  Preformed at the email server saving your computer the work, bayesian filtering on the word content of the email is used to distinguish illegitimate spam email from legitimate email.

• Greylisting
  Our email server will "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize. If the mail message is legitimate, the originating server will try again and the email will be accepted. If the mail message is from a spammer it will probably not be retried since a spammer goes through thousands of email addresses and usually do not retry on failure.
  Note: Our Greylisting service is optional, but each new mail account defaults to greylisting enabled. More on Greylisting
• Whitelist
  A whitelist is a list of accepted email senders, this is maintained by the email administrator via the webmail facility. Note a whilte list is generally not needed.
• 4 Blacklists
  Also known as DNS Blacklist, or DNSBL, our email server simply rejects or flags messages which have been sent from a site listed on one or more such lists.
  We utilise not one but four spammer's blacklists:
  • SORBS safe.dnsbl - Unsolicited bulk/commercial email senders
  • SpamCop
  • SpamHaus SBL+XBL
  • UCEPROTECT-Network - Single IP's that send mail to Spamtraps
• Send Policy Framework (SPF)
  SPF dns records allow email hosting providers to identify messages that are or are not sent from the domain name they say they are from, thus limiting the spammers ability to forge email coming from any of your email addresses. SPF is not perfect but it is a valid part of the spam solution, to this end we will setup your SPF dns records for you, which usually requires some consultation.

• DomainKeys Identified Mail Service
  DomainKeys technology is designed to verify both the DNS domain of an email sender and the integrity of a message i.e. it validates the mail is actually from who it says its from.
  
  The future is now.. Yahoo's domainkeys proticol and the standards based DKIM promises to remove spam altogether one day, its got the goods and we here at Net Associates fully support it.
  
  The DKIM specification is the basis for an IETF Working Group which has now guided the specification to becoming a full IETF standard.
  
  DKIM offers strong protection against email spoofing. DomainKeys and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) email authentication technology is now being used to prevent the delivery of bogus messages posing as emails from eBay, Gmail, Yahoo, Trademe.co.nz and Paypal
  
  Our DomainKeys Identified Mail Service Means:
  • We will setup your domainkeys (DKIM) dns records for you. (.nz, .com or other)
